Josep Martí Pérez
Josep Martí is a researcher at the Milá y Fontanals Institution of the Spanish National Research Council. His research focuses on intangible cultural heritage, collective identities, the anthropology of music, the anthropology of the body and posthumanism.
Josep Martí received his PhD in 1985 from the Philipps-Universität Marburg, Germany, after studying cultural anthropology in Barcelona and Göttingen. Since 1989, he has worked as a researcher at the Milá y Fontanals Institution of the Spanish National Research Council, in Barcelona, where he leads research projects in his field.
Throughout his professional career, his main research interests have focused on the new social meanings of intangible cultural heritage, collective identities and culture, especially ethnicity and multiculturalism, the anthropology of music, the anthropology of the body and, more recently, posthumanism. As an anthropologist, he has carried out fieldwork in several European countries, Japan and Equatorial Guinea.
The results of this work have been disseminated through several books, numerous articles published in specialised journals and exhibitions. As a visiting lecturer, he regularly teaches courses in his field at several universities, especially at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and the Universitat de Barcelona.
