Brigitte Bargetz

Brigitte Bargetz is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Political Science at Kiel University, Germany, and co-editor of the feminist political science journal *Femina Politica*. Her research interests lie at the intersection of affect studies, queer feminist theory, political theory, and critical theories of everyday life.

She is currently completing her habilitation project, *A Political Grammar of Feelings*, in which she engages with contemporary theories of democracy, the current turn towards affect and care, as well as feminist, queer, and critical race approaches to political feelings. The project aims to identify affective dimensions of the historical present in the Global North and to propose a nuanced way of theorising them.

For several years, she has also been working on the notion of feminist critique, engaging with debates around affirmative critique and exploring new political imaginaries, transformative potentialities, and alternative futures.

Before joining Kiel University, Brigitte held various positions at the University of Vienna, The Open University in Milton Keynes, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and the University of Washington in Seattle. She has also worked at several international interdisciplinary research centres, including the ICI Berlin Institute for Cultural Inquiry, the IFK International Research Center for Cultural Studies in Vienna, and the IWM – Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna.

She led the research project *Critical Science Literacy* and served as co-spokesperson of the “Politics and Gender” working group of the German Political Science Association (DVPW).
